setting up flags is painful

Post by Fixer »

after 15 minutes of setting up Fixer's flags I realized I was only half done
the way it's implemented now just doesn't make any sense
why load a seperate page every time you click just to tell you that you clicked?
why reload the page after every click?
why have confusing red and green blocks in Y N and S columns? what the heck does S mean?
make them simple check boxes and don't update them on each click, put an update button at the bottom to click on after you're done

You have very good points, I've also noticed them. Everyone disliked how you had to click on each flag to update, then move onto the next. The initial setup takes forever so I decided that an update to allow for click fields would be a lot better then single cell clicks, I've just not updated. This is mainly due since Lokai had made a flag tracker, and has the Magelo import function. I guess I need to ask how he did that so I can implement that on my site.

Lokai's site has more function, and as much as I was / am bummed out about it, I just don't see how I can compete with his tracker since I don't have much time due to school and RL. You can see Lokai's Flag Tracker to see what I mean. I would fix the site and make it better, but having two people working on somewhat the same thing seems to be a waste of someone's time, plus it confuses people on what page to go to.

If enough people want me to continue with the site I will, I just don't want to do it for nothing.

It's kind of ironic though that Lokai's is by kills like I was asking you to add here, but he doesn't have a progress view like you have :)

I also do very much like your color-coding scheme, makes it easy to see what's there and what's partial. Lokai has said that he is adding a progress view though, so I guess we'll see how that goes.

Half the time I try to go to Lokai's site, it's down. :(

Hmm, well...I guess I'll try to change it over to the check boxes so as to make it easier for anyone that wants to use EQ GM. Makes it easier on everyone to be able to quickly check and submit then do it xx many times.

All taken care of, each flag requirement is now a check box. Just click what you have done and click update on the bottom and it's taken care of.
